Structure Links sync of Epics in a HLF

Derek Organ May 6, 2014

So I want to represent the following.

Structure to represent a list of HLF that need to be complete for a release

There are many tracks which are represent by HLFs

Each team creates EPICs that represent the steps to complete that HLF

I want to manually include the HLF relevant to this release.

I then want any EPICs included in the selected HLFs to automatlically show up in the hierarchy of the structure.

How do I go about setting this up. Any tips?

Hi Derek,

The best way to do this would be using Links Synchronizers.

You'll need to keep a 'Master' structure that has all the HLFs with all their Epics arranged underneath them (I suspect you already have one like this). It should have a Links Synchronizer installed.

On your 'Release' structure you should also install a Links Synchronizer, using the same link type as in the Links Synchronizer on the Master structure. The default settings should work fine, but you might want to switch to 'Links primacy' in advanced options - this will stop any changes that are made in the Release structure from being transferred to the Master structure.

Now when you add HLFs to the Release structure, the Links Synchronizer should pull their children in underneath them.

Let me know how you get on with that.

Cheers,

Robert
