Story Points show as usable in context of issue screens, but hidden

Marc Zukerman January 9, 2020

Hello all, new to Jira and having an issue with the story points field. It was available and we were calculating it for the first few sprints of a project, but now we are not seeing the field anymore - either during creation of an issue or editing. When I go into the custom fields configuration it shows:

Issue type(s):
Global (all issues)
Project(s):
Portals Classic

for available contexts on Story Points and

for the screens.

Any ideas on how to get them to show up? I'm holding up the start of a sprint until we figure this out.

If you go to a create/edit screen that is missing the field, look to the top right for "configure fields", you may see it listed in there as deselected from view.  If that's not the case, use "where's my field" instead, to find how it has been de-scoped.

Thanks Nic, we used where's my field to find the field in the first place. One of my PMs found that it was a locked field and unlocked it and now it is able to be seen. We don't know how it became locked in the first place, but at least now it is showing.

Thank you!

I assume that you are working on the "Portals Classic" project?  As that is the only project for which the custom field is configured.  From looking at the screen names prefixed with AGEV it's not clear if this is the case.

Yes, these are classic projects
