Start date for an issue in team-managed projects

Hey, I want to run an analysis in Excel using the Jira add-in. I need the start date of an issue. Since this is not tracked by default, my idea was to add a workflow property to the transition when the issue gets moved to in progress. I was looking at this article. But I cannot find a value for a start date. Any idea how to solve this?

so do you consider an issue started when it transitions to say In Progress? You could consider a custom date field and use automation.

The field would be always visible in a team-managed project, right? No way to do it completely in the background I assume?

Based on your answer I assume there is no property for the workflow feature I discovered?

For TMP you can certainly add start date to the layout. It isn't available in Properties that I have seen. But unclear why it is needed for assessment using Excel. If you are trying to set the start date when the issue transitions to in progress, then I would use automation for that purpose. Then, using excel you can assess the value as needed.
