'Start Date' (and custom End Date) field gets set when moving a task from any status back to Backlog

agroisman October 6, 2020

I've been looking around the settings but can't seem to find why this is happening. In any project I have, whenever I move a task back to the Backlog (regardless of the current status) the Start Date (JIRA's field) and the End Date (BigGantt's field) values get set to the current date if those two values were originally empty. If those fields have already been set, then the original values are kept (they don't get overridden).

How/where can I change that behavior?

Thanks!

Hi @agroisman

That sounds as if it might be a transition set on the workflow. You will need to check the workflow and look at transitions to the Backlog.

Thanks @Warren

I did look but couldn't find anything special that might be causing that. There's just one "Generic Event" (the only editable of the five) which I'm not sure where it came from nor what it does...any ideas of where to look next? Some screenshots below:

Hi @agroisman

Hmm, not sure then. Do you use any apps, like ScriptRunner, which could be doing something in the background? Also, what about Automation, which allows this sort of change?

agroisman October 7, 2020

The only 3rd party app I use is BigGantt, and while I do use Automation, none of the automations I have in place would do anything like that (in fact, this problem happens in projects where I don't have any kind of automation configured).

So weird...I'll keep looking though, if I come across an answer I'll post it here.

Thank you very much for your help @Warren
