Sprint Health gadget - how does it work?

Jason Hayman November 9, 2021

I'm trying to understand this gadget, but something is not lining up for me.

The description mentions story points as the measure, but it seems to be counting issues instead. In regards to 'Work Complete', the article linked below states, "This is calculated based on the estimation statistic used for your board. This is reflected by the green part of the progress bar. For example, if you have 50 story points in a sprint and you have 3 issues with 10 story points that have been resolved, the 'Work complete' will be 20% (i.e. 10 out of 50 story points)."

Using one team as an example, we have the estimation statistic set as Story Points.

Their Sprint Health gadget says they have completed 10% of their sprint.

Their burndown chart begs to differ. It shows no story points completed.

But it does show 5 issues completed which matches the sprint health progress bar.

So, it seems this is gadget broken. Anyone know something I am missing?

You have the Time Spent option selected (in the Estimation area below where you circle story points), try toggling that to None.  If your team isn't updating the Time feature correctly then you can get some interesting results here.

I'm not sure if that'll fix it for you, but it's what I would suggest trying first.
