Is there anyway for Tempo to skip/ignore timegaps?

We use JIRA to report time spent on a ticket and projects. I usually log my morning which is basically 08:00-12:00, this is broken down into several different tickets or just one. Then i take a lunch break for a 1 hour. So when i get back it's 13:00. However when i then go to log time i usually just enter the amount of time (hours, minutes) i worked. Not the clock stamps. But when i do that it always defaults to the start time 12:00 when i had my break. It keeps on doing that always. Even if i log time from 13:00-14:00, then try to log time for a different ticket it will still try and fill that empty 12:00-13:00 slot instead of continuing on 14:00.

Is there a solution for this? Or am i just gonna have to createa a "Lunch Break" ticket and explain it to my supervisor why i had to do it ^^

Hi @Jimmy Andersson and welcome to the Community!

I have supported organisations implement Jira with time tracking solutions many times (usually Tempo) and have not seen this be an issue anywhere, to be honest.

99% of the time, companies do care that people are booking the required amount of hours per day / week / month, but don't really care about the time of day. If you look at Tempo reports, you will always see the number of hours logged, but never the times of day.

So, unless your company is the one exception that is using the tool to track when employees are sitting at their desk (and I really hope that is not the case 😅), don't create a ticket for your lunch break - it will only make it seem as if you're working too many hours or draw attention to the length of your lunch break 😉.

Hope this helps!

On an additional note: you can see the start and end times of work as an aid to calculate the actual time spent on a task. This may save you time (and a calculator) when you are trying to determine the amount spent on a task. But I would not add more weight to it than that.
