How can i get the start and due date for my child issues to show up in the roadmap like the photo attached below? Currently I can only get it done for my epic.

Hi @Loh Phay Key , I was trying to do the same with different Jira project types. As mentioned by @Muhammad Fahad , the schedule bars for child issues will be displayed only for scrum projects.

However, there is one more note here. The length of the schedule bar will be the same as the duration of the sprint.

For example, the start date and end date for a given child issue is 1/1/22 and 31/3/22. If that issue was part of a 2-weeks sprint from 1/2/22 to 14/2/22, then the schedule bar will show only those 2 weeks in the roadmap. Similarly if that issue is carried over to the next sprint, then the bar will be extended another 2 weeks in the roadmap.

Hope is helps

Hi @Loh Phay Key - please follow the steps listed here:https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/add-issues-to-epics-on-the-roadmap/

However, please note that:

Schedule bars for child issues are only currently available for scrum teams.

Hi there, I'm having some trouble with this. I'm trying to map out (estimated) future dates for child issues within an epic, to better visualize dependencies and communicate to the team when we expect to be working on what. I added start date and due date to my issue layout, but even when there are a dates entered for them, it's not showing a bar for that issue in my roadmap. When I hover over the roadmap itself I see a semi-transparent bar that looks like it can be placed on a future date in order to forecast this, but it does not actually work this way (it only lets me drop it on the current sprint, and adds the issue to the sprint, which is not what I want to do). Could you help me understand what I'm missing?

ETA: This is a scrum project board, in a company-managed project, using Jira cloud.

Update for anyone who is searching for information on this:

Looks like you can only forecast future dates in a scrum project if you have sprints outlined for those dates. Our project uses "phantom sprints" to organize the backlog into new tickets, ready for grooming, and ready for prioritization. So we would need to rethink that structure in order to do something like this where you are pre-planning sprints. But this article explains how to do it in more detail if it is something that would work for your team: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/schedule-work-for-scrum-teams-on-your-roadmap/
