After the update from Jira software 9.12.2 (and JSM 5.12.2) to version 9.16.1 (JSM 5.17.0) our UI seems to be broken in the left side bar. It is both in software and JSM. The text is in white or light grey color and only be readable when you hover over.
It is happening in all browsers and for all users. We restarted Jira already but didn't fix the issue.
I found out that in a version between 9.12.2 and 9.16.1 the menu items seems to be linked to the option “*Drop-down menu item - text colour”* in the Look and Feel section. In version 9.12.2 changing the colour does not have impact on these menu items. In version 9.16.1 it does. As the value in that section was #ffffff for years, it now suddenly mess up our layout. I have set the value to #42526E and now it is similar to our production again.
As per the description, we understand that you are facing an issue with the sidebar menus, which are not visible due to a colour change after the upgrade.
We checked internally and found that this is a known bug in the system
I see in your later message on this ticket, you have already applied the workaround suggested in the bug report.
