Running 2 Independent Sprints on 2 different boards on the same Project

Edited

I have 1 Agile Jira Project: STR. 2 separate teams are working on this project: developers and Infrastructure. Originally, I had just one board, but I created a second board. Now each team has their board. So far, I have been running sprints on one board

Question: Can I run completely separate sprints (Start date and even length difference) on each board?

Question: on my additional board, I see the sprint(s) from the other team board. I am wondering if that is helpful? I find it a bit confusing - Do you use the same sprints on different boards?

Thank you

Hi @Mireille, further to Craig's suggestion, Umano can provide individualised optics and guidance on team's sprint performance (from 25+ agile workflow metrics) for each of the parallel sprints, rather than the aggregated view that Jira is only able to provide/. Let me know if you have any questions.  Have fun!

@Chris Boys That question most likely will come as soon as I am faced with reports on these independent Sprints. Thank for the app suggestion.

Hi @Mireille if you have your Jira admin enable parallel sprints you can easily achieve this.  You don't even need two boards, you can change the sprint in the board view.  Once it's enabled and two sprints are active a pull-down arrow appears in the Board View to specify which sprint or All sprints to display.

Question: Can I run completely separate sprints (Start date and even length difference) on each board? Yes

Boards are a graphical representation of the filter defined in the Board Configuration settings.  The sprint portion of Scrum boards is based on the project for that filter and any sprints in openSprints().  Meaning it pulls the detail of the sprints from the project and sprints that are active.  If you are running a single sprint then that will be the focus of a Scrum board, if you are running parallel sprints you'll get a choice selection in a pull-down as mentioned already.  Boards are flexible and are based on permissions, I usually grant my users the ability to create their own boards and the team relies on a Team Board, So the answer is yes you can use the same sprint on multiple boards.

@Craig Nodwell I asked my JIRA admin to enable Parallel Sprints. I am eager to see how I can manage better my project
