Hi.
I have a Team-managed project in JIRA that I am the administrator for. I am attempting to make changes to pre-existing JIRA issues via the CSV upload tool in JIRA.
I have followed various tips online and in the tool itself explaining the necessary fields to make this work. Each time I am met with the following error:
ERROR - Unexpected failure occurred. Importer will stop immediately. Data may be in an unstable state: Failed to remove subtasks [SDS-136] parents. A parent of a subtask cannot be removed.
The bizarre part of this is that all I am attempting to change is one custom text field, but for whatever reason, I am met with the above error.
I initially attempted applying my changes to 'Task' level issues, but that resulted in my issues becoming unallocated from their assigned 'Epic'. Believing this to be cause by some bizarre 'Epic-Task' relationship bug, I tried to apply my updates to 'Subtask' level issues, and the error above appeared.
I am at my wits end with this as all online materials show a very simply process to follow, but it never works. Please help.
Below is an example of the data I am trying to upload (but is not succeeding):
Issue key | Summary | Custom field (Target Location(s)) |
SDS-136 | Stream 277_GD | \\folder\folder2\folder3 |
I have been mapping these to their corresponding fields in the upload tool.
Issue key > Issue Key
Summary > Summary
Custom field (Target Location(s)) > Target Location(s) [custom field]
Any tips to navigate this issue would be most welcome. I have tried also defining parent and child relationships in my upload with no success (perhaps some direction on how to best achieve this would help).
Kind regards,
J
Hi Jordan : )
There are two problems here, let's go though them one by one:
Failed to remove subtasks [SDS-136] parents. A parent of a subtask cannot be removed. It seems that there was a mapping to remove the parent field on this subtask. Can you please check the parent of subtask SDS-136 and make sure it has a valid parent issue?
Thanks,
Hala
