In my JIRA project, we have issue type "Backlog" and "Bug"

We want that

  1. User with Administrator or Developer role can create, edit, delete for all issue types, and
  2. Any logged-in user can create, edit but not delete for issue type "Bug"

I am able to achieve 1 easily. But for 2, not able to configure. Permissions get applied for all issues and not just for issue type Bug.

Can you please suggest how to do this setup?

Target Setup - Anyone can log bugs and update but can't create backlogs in my JIRA project.

Thanks and Best Regards, Ashwani Kr Sharma

Hello @Ashwani_Sharma

Thank you for reaching out.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to set project permissions (Create issues, delete issues, etc.) per issue types. We have already requested this ability with our development team before, however, they decided not to implement it since it would add more complexity and backload to the application:

Provide the ability for permission schemes to be configured per issue type

That being said, you can use one of the following options to achieve your need:

  1. Use a separated project for the bug issue type, configuring the permissions as you need
  2. Use a third-party app from Atlassian Marketplace to achieve your need. You can check some suggested options from other customers in the comments of the feature request.
