how to stop story to be closed/done checking only tasks/subtasks under story closed/done. Note: I am as a project administrator in team managed projects not jira admin.

In Team-managed projects, workflow validator/condition options are very limited. Unfortunately, it may not be possible to achieve this directly. If you can migrate the project to a company-managed project, there are some third-party apps that can help you accomplish this.

Alternatively, you can try reverting the transition if conditions were not met using Automation.

If you are on Team Managed project, an automation rule is most likely responsible for this.

Check the rules on the project.

Welcome to the community. Unfortunately, it will not be possible out of the box. Using a third-party app like Scriptrunner or Jwme in workflow conditions can help.
