Reports

vashim shekh May 19, 2023

Please solve the step by step

  • We need a report that will show us the average amount of days it takes a ticket to go from To Do status, to Done
  • We also need to know how many days it takes to go from In Progress to Client Review
  • We also need this time per developer
  • We also need to know the number of days compared to the amount of estimated time. Example: On average, how many calendar days does it take to complete a ticket with an 8 hour estimate.
  • We also want to know, on average, how many hours of Bugs are spent compared to the original estimate. Example: If a ticket is estimated at 8 hours, and we ended up spending 4 hours on bugs, we'd like to know that we spend about 50% additional effort on bugs.

Hello @vashim shekh

As an alternative , I guess you can try Time in Status for Jira Cloud or Time Between Statuses developed by my team SaaSJet.

Time in Status for Jira Cloud lets you get Cycle and Lead time by setting Status Groups. You can configure it from your account at the Column Manager with the drop-down list of the statuses. A custom report can be placed on the main Jira dashboard with the special Gadget tool, and you can export data in XLSX or CSV formats.

Cycle Time (1).gif

Also add-on has 7 types of status time reports can help you with this.

One of them is Average Time report that shows the average time issues have been staying in statuses during a specific period.

Time between Statuses is the add-on, which measures connections in the workflow, through a transition time in specific issues. You can count Cycle and Lead Time by setting start/stop and pause statuses in the configuration manager. To detail the calculation conditions you should select the first/last transition to/from status.

You can customize your Cycle and Lead Time reports by adjusting the app interface fields such as: Type of Project Date range Time Format Multi Calendar (to configure non-working hours and different calendars.) This add-on also allows you to export data in XLSX or CSV formats.

In this add-on you can also see Average Time of task between statuses.

Add-on has a 30-day free trial version and free up to 10 users.
Please, let me know if you have any questions

Hope it helps šŸ˜Œ

Hi @vashim shekh,

Our Great Gadgets app for Jira and Confluence offers a Cycle Time Trend gadget that help you to answer these questions:

  • We need a report that will show us the average amount of days it takes a ticket to go from To Do status, to Done
  • We also need to know how many days it takes to go from In Progress to Client Review

It allow measuring the time between two workflow statuses (like To Do to Done, or In Progress to Client Review) and displays the result as bar chart, with a trend line and the average. Time can be in hours or days.

Also,  the Advanced Issue Filter Formula gadget offer by the same plugin, will help you to answer this question:

  • We also want to know, on average, how many hours of Bugs are spent compared to the original estimate. Example: If a ticket is estimated at 8 hours, and we ended up spending 4 hours on bugs, we'd like to know that we spend about 50% additional effort on bugs.

You can configure this gadget to calculate and display the total estimated time, the total worked hours on bugs and then to calculate the percentage.

I don't understand exactly what you mean by this, but this gadget could solve this as well:

  • We also need to know the number of days compared to the amount of estimated time. Example: On average, how many calendar days does it take to complete a ticket with an 8 hour estimate.

This plugin offers many other gadgets that you will find useful.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at support@stonikbyte.com.

Thank you,

Hello @vashim shekh ,

You can get all of the items in your question using our marketplace app.

Our team at OBSS built Time in Status for this exact need. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud, and Data Center.

Time in Status mainly allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status or each assignee

tisCloud_StatusDuration_LeadTime_with Estimates.png    tisCloud_AssigneeDuration.png

You can combine the time for multiple statuses to get metrics like Issue Age, Cycle Time, Lead Time, Resolution Time etc.

For all numeric report types, you can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by the issue fields you select. For example total in-progress time per Vertical or average resolution time per sprint, week, month, issuetype, request type, etc. The ability to group by parts of dates (year, month, week, day, hour) or sprints is particularly useful here since it allows you to compare different time periods or see the trend.

The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well. It supports both Company Managed and Team Managed projects for Jira Cloud.

Time in Status reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs. All these options can provide both calculated data tables and charts.

Hi @vashim shekh

As an alternative, you can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.

Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app.

  • This app has a dynamic status grouping feature so that you can generate various valuable reports as time in status, time in assignee, status entry dates and status counts, cycle time and lead time, average/sum reports by any field(e.g. average in progress time by project, average cycle time by issue creation month).
  • You can search issues by Project, Issue Type, Status, Assignee, Issue Creation/Resolution Date(and any other Date field) and JQL Query.
  • Status durations are calculated according to the working calendar you define. Once you enter your working calendar into the app, it takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days.
  • You can set different duration formats.
  • You can export reports in CSV file format and open them in MS Excel.
  • You can also add this app as a gadget to your Jira dashboards and reach ā€œStatus Timeā€ from Issue Detail page.
  • You can enable/disable access to Status Time reports&gadgets and Issue Detail page per project, users, groups or project role.

If you are looking for a completely free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Free.

Hope it helps.
