Remove a user from Site-Admin Group

Deleted user August 6, 2019

A colleague was part of the Site-Admin group but she has since left the company. When I tried to revoke her access, it says "This user is a organization administrator, and their privileges cannot be modified".

How do you remove a user that used to be an admin from your organisation's JIRA instance?

I had the exact same issue on Jira Cloud. What you should do is this:

  • Go to Settings
  • Then "User Management"
  • The top icon should say "Organization" and your site name, click on it
  • Then click "Settings"
  • Then "Administrators"
  • There you can remove organization administrators from that group
  • You can now also remove them from your site, if needed

It's a bit of a hassle perhaps, but it kinda makes sense.

Are you trying to remove a user from a group. If so can you check the “groups” under organization page?

Remove her from the site admin group(s) then deactivate.
