Please let me know how we can group email notifications such that a person does not get a separate email for every single little thing that changes on a ticket, or please let us know how to be more selective on what types of updates are sent. We are finding that when we use JIRA to keep detailed information on actions taken on a ticket that people attached to the ticket are bombarded with emails. An example would be, 3 emails go out with the following:
1) assign a person
2) mark it in progress - but - JIRA automatically assigns the person who put it in progress and therefore ...
3) need to reassign the person
3 more emails when:
1) The status is marked done and the person forgot to put the comments in for how it was accomplished when they marked it done. - so that is 2 emails
2) they realized they mistyped something or just want to edit a few words in their comment and now another email goes out.
