Recommended scanners for Insight?

Are there any scanners that Riada recommends for Insight compatibility? We would like to scan an asset, and automatically open the asset for it to be direct-edited.

We have a partner called "Right Star" and they are experts in bar code scanning, they provide a scanner via Iphone/Android that scans any bar code and everything is created/updated in Insight.

How does this work, i.e. how do they connect the scanner app on the phone with Insight. Is this a script that they have made or Riada has provided?

As mensioned, Riadas own scanner (Discovery) is suited for the task!

However, other scanners will work as long as you can provide the data in an CSV file or SQL connection. 

The benefit of using Discovery is that you dont need to take care of data massage and mapping into Insight structure 😉

Thanks, but we have a number of assets that are not connected to the network. Is there a physical scanner that will suit our needs or a script that will allow us to edit assets when the scanner reads them?

Aha, sorry...missunderstand the scenario.

Well, you can use the QR-code on each object, print them and put on your assets. 

Then use your favorite QR-code scanner (no specific recommendation from Riada) and scan the code which links you to the object (in an browser).

Thanks again. We actually might be able to use Insight Discovery for our network assets. But last year someone from Insight mentioned that something was in the works for an Insight-recommended physical scanner.
