Read or Parse XML from an RSS Feed (from an external source URL) using JIRA Automation?

I'm trying to work out if there is a way to read an rss feed from an external site/source and parse the XML? The ultimate goal would be to read the RSS feed and potentially create JIRA work items from each item/node, depending on the node criteria/info.

Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, maybe even have an example automation rule that I could reference?
