Role of verify domain

Syed Muhammad Ammad Mansoor March 26, 2023

The option of verify domain can directly import users associated with the domain  without using any tools like access or any third-party SSO? , let suppose I have mails associated with the domain, So I can import all user associated with the domain without any AD integration just by verifying domain

Hi @Syed Muhammad Ammad Mansoor,

Verifying your domain just does 2 things:

  1. Verify ownership of your company's domain
  2. Claim the user accounts in that domain

It gives you / your organisation the following benefits:

  1. More control over the Atlassian accounts on your company’s domain – those accounts become managed accounts, which means you can edit, delete, or deactivate their accounts.

  2. The ability to apply security policies to your managed accounts – you may want to require log in with two-step verification or set up SAML single sign-on so that policies from your identity provider apply to all Atlassian accounts. You can do both by subscribing to Atlassian Access.

That last bit is important. Applying security policies and setting up an AD-integration and SSO does require Atlassian Access. It does not happen just by verifying the domain.

Hope this helps!
