How to create overview board for multiple Next-Gen projects

likkee April 30, 2020

I'm Richie, New to Jira

Created two projects (Next-gen), one scrum, one kanban, thus have a different column in the board.

Refer to screenshot below (from Mac Appstore), there are issues from multiple projects showed in Teams in Space board. How can I create this?

Screenshot 2020-05-01 at 12.31.30 AM.pngSaw a solution from the discussion forum but it doesn't show the projects created and the location also show only personal (Not a project)

Hi Richie, thanks for giving Jira a spin!

The screenshot shown for the Jira app on MacOS is a design mockup meant to show the possible actions you could take from the Mac app (as a couple functions require you to use a browser). Not everything shown is possible all at the same time; for example, the project has a running sprint based on the "Complete sprint" button shown in the upper right, but the columns still have the "Create issue" option as if the project were using Kanban instead of Scrum. If you try to reproduce this exact scenario in either the Jira Mac app or the browser, you'll find that it can't be done. Instead, the image is meant to show what's possible in the Mac app vs some functions you may need to do in a browser.

Cheers,
Daniel

I think this should be mentioned in the app's description. Showing Falcon-9 but it is still Falcon-1.

Hi @likkee  - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You can only have the original board created with a Next-gen project connected to the project using the Location field in the board. But that doesn't prevent issues from multiple projects from showing up on the board.

You will need to link the board to a Classic project, but it doesn't matter which one as far as the issues are concerned. It's just that the board will show up for that project when you do the dropdown on boards while on a board on that project.

So to link one board to multiple projects, create a new filter that looks something like:

Project in (PM, BG) and link that filter to the new board. Don't forget to share the filter so others can see it.  :-)

I tried with the classic project, by modifying the default board filter and tweak the columns. However, it doesn't show exactly like the screenshot attached above (With 'create issue' button below every column, with the 4 filters beside 'Search board'. Any guide to achieve this?

You will not be able to achieve that same functionality with Jira. There is a standard Create button for all issues available no matter what board you are on, but not on the column itself.

But the screenshot provided is Jira too

You can't create multiple boards with the same functionality for Next-gen projects. You can create new boards and have cards from Next-gen projects displayed on them, but they will not be Next-gen boards with that functionality.

I want to copy exactly the layout in the screenshot. But it can't, mean the Jira screenshot is an edited image. No such features

You can't - that functionality does not exist. You can submit a feature request with Atlassian here:
