I'd like to use the REST API for creating issues in Jira, and reading the docs this looks pretty straight forward.
However, is there a way to avoid creating multiple (equal) issues if the event triggering the API call occurs again? The API-call is planned to be generated from a separate monitoring system.
Is there i.e. some kind of unique id that can be used in the issue or API-call to avoid creating duplicates in Jira?
