When I looked at my Jira tab today, it was a 404 and I had to re-enable Jira and create a project. I looked through the "What is the free jira cloud plan" document and it says
"If you’re a site admin, we’ll send you emails to let you know if your site is at risk of being deactivated due to inactivity so you can log in and take action to prevent deactivation."
I did not receive any email to this effect and would really like my project back as there are issues and planned features that I didn't have documented anywhere else.
Hi David - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Sometimes email addresses end up on Atlassian's suppression list. It happened to a colleague of mine last week. Let me see if someone from Atlassian can come take a look for you.
Hello @David Watson
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Did you review your junk/spam email folders? Do you have any outdated processing rules for messages you receive that might have done something with those emails?
If you used an employer managed email account could the email provider have blocked your receipt of the message?
Review the information about data retention on the following page.
If you site was deactivated for inactivity reasons the data would be retained for a limited time before being permanently deleted.
You might try opening a case here:
https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact/purchasing-licensing#/
But if you are outside the data retention period then it is unlikely it can be recovered.

Thank you for your reply and advice @Trudy Claspill !
Nothing in spam and no email filters. Searching email from "from:*@*atlassian.com" shows all Atlassian email I have received (mostly product and agreement updates) and there is none ever in spam.
