Potential conflict between JEMH and JETI add-ons for incoming mail handling

We already have JEMH add-on installed and configured to handle incoming mails.

We plan to install JETI (Jira Email This Issue) add-on for mailing issues only. However, it also has a section for handling incoming mails.

Does anyone know what will happen if JETI is configured for incoming mails? Will there be a race condition? or both will handle each mail? Or worse?

Hi Amir, you can use both marketplace apps together successfully. I've seen customers use bith JETI and JEMH to handle emails, for different purposes.

Depending how you've set up your incoming mail handlers, as long as these don't overlap inboxes, you should be fine.

Not sure what would happen if you configured both, but I would guess both would try to handle the email. This may or may not create a race like condition, depending on configurations.

Hi All,

Reece from The Plugin People here, (JEMH vendor)

You can use both apps in the same Jira instance, and we are aware that some customers do this.

JEMH will not affect outbound notifications created by JETI. The only place you would see a problem would be inbound email, if you had a JEMH handler and  a JETI handler configured for the same inbox.

As long as there is no overlap of inboxes/mail handlers you should not encounter any problems.

It is worth noting that JEMH does offer outbound issue notifications, and the ability to send email from an issue via Ad-Hoc notifications.

Kind regards,

Reece

You should not use JEMH and JETI to handle email from the same inbox, there is no guarantee which handler would run first, and JEMH could read an email before JETI runs, or vice versa. It's generally a bad idea to have multiple mail handlers connected to the same inbox.
