How are Child requirements different than Issue Links and when should we use one over the other?

Hi @Isabel L

Welcome to the community!

Parent and child Jira issue is more like a hierarchy structure and relationship between the Jira issues.

Here is a basic example of the hierarchy structure:
Epic > Story > Sub-task

Perhaps you may refer to the following document to understand more about the Jira hierarchy:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-the-issue-type-hierarchy/

Issue Links are more flexible and establish relationships between issues that do not necessarily follow a hierarchical structure.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-issue-linking/

Thank you.

How should we ogranize the parent/child or issue links so that the tree view can also be useful?
