On the view screen, can the width of the columns in subtask section be manipulated?

In JIRA documentation, one can find how to configure what to display in the subtask quick create form. But I am not able to find any write up on how to modify the width of the columns. Is that achievable? And how?

Yes that's acheivable by modifying the CSS files in /<JIRA_HOME>/ui folder. You probably have to play around with it like i did to find the one you are looking for.

Are you referring to issue-view.css? I am working on JIRA 4.4.1
