Old stories showing up in the sprint

I was looking at my current sprint (mid day through the first day) and noticed there were closed items that were already closed in the Done column of the sprint. These items were not there in the sprint backlog when we groomed the sprint nor in the sprint board when I started the sprint but are now showing up in the sprint backlog and the sprint board.

I tried looking at the history on the items but there is nothing in the history that would indicate how this would have happened. The last action item on one of the tickets is from 11 months ago when it was closed.

The filter has not been changed and is still untouched.

Anybody know how/why this could have happpened?

this has happened to me, there are a few considerations.

  1. Status
    1. was a status added to a column on the sprint board that was not previously there?
  2. Share Boards / Sprints
    1. I had a number of things in a sprint that were of the status "Cancelled". I removed the "Cancelled" status from the board since i wanted the team closing those manually and not accidentally dragging thing into that status on the board. In doing so, the things that were cancelled in that sprint in turn moved into every following sprint even after closing sprints. I didn't realize it until i had a Kanban board set up to view things like cancelled and once i noticed there were items that had been in a given column for X days, i was able to then see that these were also in a sprint even though i had not put them into that sprint.

Did you find an answer @George Mathews ? I have this issue now and I have no idea how to fix it.

Could you check the history of the issue? Maybe somebody changed the Sprint field to a sprint on your board.

Thanks Alexey. That was the first thing I checked. But there is no further information on the items since they were closed. One of them was closed 11 months back and another about 3 to 4 months back and another about a month and a half back.
