Non-updated issues are not shown on Kanban Board

Katrien Geukens May 15, 2018

Hi,

I recently discovered that not all our issues (from the backlog) are showing up in the Kanban board. I noticed that when I update them (by for example adding a comment), they show up again. The issues are all in "To-do" and not in the real "Backlog" section of the Backlog.

I've read multiple support docs, but I didn't find a solution for this one.

Many thanks in advance!

Katrien

I found out that if you switch on Hide completed issues older than 2 weeks in board configuration not only Issues in status category DONE (resolved more then 2w ago) is missing. If you have status with no category updated more than 2 weeks ago - It will disappear from the board also

I just received an answer from one of my colleagues, can this be true?

I think this feature from the recent Jira version update, they changed something with inactive issues. But it should hide only complited issues.May be it happens because statuses 'to do' and 'done' don't have a specified category?

Hi Katrien,

the board shouldn't hide issues based on activity if the filter doesn't enforce that.
Is it correct that the statuses "To do" and "Done" are linked to a column?
As for the status category: They should by default have a status category, but if they don't, you should change that and see if it fixes your issue.

I was having the same issue as Katrien and found that change the board configuration general setting "Hide completed issues older than" to Show all.

Which I hadn't initially checked because the issues that weren't being shown on my board had not been completed yet.  Not sure how that makes sense but it worked!  Posting it here in case it helps someone else :)

Does anybody know why the "Hide completed issues older than" settings also hides issues that are not completed but haven't been updated recently?

it might be that these issues have the resolution set? can you elaborate on "completed".

On the issues I identified as missing from the Kanban board the resolution is Unresolved and they were in a status that isn't closed, done, or completed.  As soon as I updated the issue it was viewable on the Kanban board.  All I did was, click edit and added a space to the description field.  This changed the updated field from a time that was more than 2 weeks ago to Now.  For the issues that aren't showing up, the updated field is more than 2 weeks ago.

you might want to post a new question on this to get more eyes on it. i would first interrogate you board filter for anything like "...AND updated..."

I'll put a new post in.  Thanks for looking at it.  The filter returns every issue, that is how we noticed something was missing the filter record count and the records shown on the board didn't add up.

I was seeing the same issue -  the filter displays every issue in the backlog, the board has general settings updated to show all items, no quick filters are interfering - we were at a standstill until....

I decided to edit the board and start a 'Kanban backlog'  by moving a "To Do" item to that backlog space, went back checked my board and suddenly all my tickets appeared.   I then went back and removed the Kanban backlog option and my tickets were still all there.

So that appears to be the workaround for this strange bug; if all else fails start the Kanban backlog

Hi,

No "sub-filter" is selected.

The "filter query" is just the project. We don't need a filter for this board. Everything what's in the project can be shown. So "type", "status", "assignee" are all set to "all" as well.

Kind regards,

Katrien

Hi Katrien,

what does the "Filter Query" and the "Kanban board sub-filter" of this board look like?
You can find it under "Board v" -> "Configure" at the top-right corner of your board.

check for quick filter on, e.g. "recently updated"

Hi,

No quick filter selected.

Kind regards,
