My eyeballs are bleeding! Staring at screens so many hours per day.
I'm using a night mode browser plugin, ("Dark Night Mode for Chrome) but it leads to weird effects in JIRA. White boxes and some components not visible. I wonder if a night mode will ever come to JIRA or Confluence?
here are some open suggestions. you might want to vote/watch:
interesting there appears to be "darkfeatures" but you cannot change at least in Cloud it appears but have not spent time playing.
There is also a feature request for JIRA Server: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-63150
Please vote !

Note: That Confluence issue link is not related to a dark (night) theme. For Confluence Server, a more relevant issue is CONFSERVER-59063, and for Confluence Cloud, CONFCLOUD-69537.

- how can dark mode on server products be configured?
- is there a way for admins to upload a style sheet, e.g.?
- The Mac app only connects to hosted Jira Cloud, not Jira Server, correct?
Companies running Server versions: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket
JRASERVER-63150 upvote for Jira Server.
BSERV-9949 Bitbucket server upvote Dark Theme
CONFSERVER-59063 confluence server dark mode
An "upvote here" link is not a "Solved", imo.

We definitely need this more than anything. What's the point in awesome product if U can't look at it?-)

Bright Mode definitely sucks and in out of date... Every Confluence & Jira editor should leave the choice at it's paying users...

I actually gave up on dark themes altogether because they are not offered on any of the applications I use for work, or they only offer partial dark modes which are useless...
Instead I recommend to the folks here on Windows to enable the invert display under accessibility options. You can use hotkey Ctrl+ Win + C to toggle back and forth between regular display and inverted colors.
This has been a usable solution for me. I can leave all my dumb applications on their regular screaming-white settings, and then toggle the whole thing black. I only have to toggle back to bright/regular when I'm viewing image files, but this isn't a big part of my job.
As a bonus it isn't an extra application to run bogging down my machine.

That works OK but in some cases the inversion colors are pretty bad.
Anyway, found this and it seems to work pretty well but it only affects Jira

The Dark Reader Chrome extension seems to work better with no artifacts at my configuration.

Huh, on my browser, Jira glitches out and parts of the spa are rendered white for a short time before turning black.

also, a plugin affects n websites. I am developing web products. I leave my browser 100% stock. Otherwise, it's easy to miss issues experienced by people without the addon.

This is a great plug-in. Set up the Site List (inverted listed only) to only apply to atlassian site, other sites are unaffected. Thanks!

Dark Reader is an amazing plugin but it started glitching yesterday and now white blocks with white text are shown in different areas of Jira :(

Same here.. started glitching yesterday and it now shows a white box around the main window. My eyes cannot take going back to white screens.
Thanks for nothing Attlassian!

Same here. Last week Dark Reader stopped working in Jira (team-managed) inside tasks as well as some various other pop-up elements. I found a temporary solution for tasks, though: hover over the task link in the header. That somehow resets the Dark Reader theme for that task (until the page is refreshed, that is). Not sure if this issue is related to Dark Reader, Jira, my browser, or some random other process.

For Jira Server > 7.0.0 you can use the Dark Theme App which allowes every user to turn the dark theme off/on:
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221577/darktheme?hosting=server
But it's not designed for Confluence :-(

You need to pay for it and only available for servers, .. not a good solution :/

For what seems like such a simple request that is widely implemented by other web apps, this all seems way to complicated. Ideally we'd be able to use skins like in Atom/Sublime. I sure would prefer Solarized Light to the current color layout on Jira.

Here you have new Dark Mode chrome extension -- https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/night-mode-for-jira/nlgcogdbamhmdbpaabmpklojolokodaa
Works like a charm, including Confluence and other Atlassian staff.

Works great....and now they are starting to charge for it. This is table stacks and should just be supported by the product!

This is unacceptable that it's $2.16 US/month. No thank you. For a feature that should already exist in the software?

Highly recommend installing Stylus Chrome Extension.
You can browse various styles from within the extension.
The best one I have found so far is Jira Dark 2020.

In the name of God! Jesus! Why?! Why?! There is an instruction how to set the dark mode, but it's not working! It's written that in settings there is a "Theme" tab, but it's not there. Why should we suffer? Is it so difficult to give us a dark mode?!

Thank you all for your contributions.
It is possible to get the (Atlassian) Dark mode via the AUI:
https://aui.atlassian.com/aui/latest/docs/dark-mode.html
So another option would be to get the color values used in this Dark mode (but how to get them?), and to apply them in 'Custom Colour Scheme' at space level (url is: https:// [your domain name]/wikis/spaces/dochangecolourscheme.action?key=[your wiki space] )

https://darkreader.org/ is now going a good job of resolving this for me across Atlassian's product set and much of the dated internet (including the site of the business I work at).

If you're already using Stylus, I created a Userstyle theme that automatically updates. I just added a couple of changes this month.
