Need help with upgrading Jira

I'm using Jira as website (not installed the app). How can the site be upgraded?

It upgraded automatically upgraded. Thanks for the valuable replies. All of them were very informative. Thanks again!! :)

Hello @T_Sivani

Welcome to the community.

When you say you are using Jira as website, do you mean you are using Jira Cloud which is hosted and maintained by Atlassian? Is the URL for your Jira instance something like https://<something>.atlassian.net ?

If you are using Jira Cloud then there is nothing for you to do. Atlassian manages the update of the Jira software for clients that are using Jira Cloud.

If you are using a self-hosted Jira instance, where somebody other than Altassian is responsible for updating the software, you will see Jira software version information at the bottom of many of the Jira pages. This information does not appear at the bottom of pages for Jira Cloud instances.

Based on the above can you tell us the type of hosting of your Jira instance?

Hello @Trudy Claspill

The URL looks something like this - https://jira.<something>.<company_name>.com

There's no Atlassian name on the URL but at the bottom of the page, its logo with version name is written.

Hi @T_Sivani

and welcome to the community! Are you sure that you're running Jira in the self-hosted version? Upgrading Jira requires some experience with the process or some time and practice (with a test instance). There is an extensive guide by Atlassian on this topic: Upgrading Jira applications  Maybe you start by reading through it and gathering all the information about your instance (version, what operating system is it running on, which database is used, how can you do backups) and setting up a test instance to gather experience with upgrading and testing the process before jumping right in. :)

Best, Max

You're welcome and I wish you lots of fun (and success) with upgrading your instance! 😄 🤘🏼 I'm sure you will also find lots of useful resources and answers here in the community for anything you run into during the process.
