Multiple Project Board only shows one projects items

Neil Ward February 11, 2021

Hi, I need a little help please, I'm trying to create a board to manage stories from multiple projects:

  • I have setup a filter, the filter is based on labels and the stories from multiple projects have the same label... and the filter correctly finds all the stories (and epics) from multiple projects
  • I have created a scrum board based on the filter

The board only shows the stories from one project :( what have I done wrong?

please share your filter and column settings. do you have all necessary statuses mapped? Do you have any quick filters that might be interfering?

Hi Jack, see above reply to Clark, are those the settings you'd like me to share?

so in the images I see RAP and RR projects. what am i missing?

Neil Ward February 11, 2021

hi ... you're not missing anything, the filter seems to be working, i.e. it finds stories from the 2 projects.

I've used the filter in the board and it's only showing stories from one of the projects in the boardbacklog.png

well that would tell me that your board's filter is excluding them. can you please share the filter details under Board settings > general?

thanks gain for your help.

some progress.

If I remove the epic link on the stories that aren't showing up, they then show up on the board.

Should I not be using Epics for this to work? funny that the epic itself shows up!

Regarding the stories that are not showing please verify that the exact label (no mistypes) is indeed on the issues. One other question... are both projects Classic or is one NG?

Neil Ward February 12, 2021

definitely no mistypes, both are NG.

As I've discovered the issue seems to be related to the epic, remove the epic link and the boards backlog shows booth projects stories... I don't understand why though?!?

Hi Neil,

If you click on the Board Configuration button and go to Columns do you have all the statuses assigned to columns?

Also, if you plan on using sprints, make sure you specify labels and projects in the JQL filter, I would not recommend using OR statements with labels if trying to use Scrum. It can create a mess from experience.

If that doesn't work, does the filter itself show all of the issues or does the filter itself, not on the board but by going to the filter, does it show all of the issues?

Best,
Clark

Hi Clark and thanks for the speedy reply, I'm not a Jira expert so it's entirely possible I've missed something here!

My board column settings show no unmapped statuses

The filter settings, seems to indicate the filter is work ok... filter_screenshot.png

but the board shows only stories from one project
