We are looking to migrate our internal issue management forms from excel to jira.

We are planning to upgrade to a paid account if the functionality is good enough, but we need some advice as we are missing some important features for issue management.

I am planning to write the progress of each issue in the description column, but I would like to be able to display the contents updated since the specified date in multiple lines when I switch to the list view.

Is it possible to fulfill these functions?

Thank you in advance.

Hi @atsushi kato and welcome to the Community!

I bumped into this already slightly older question while doing some review. The description field is not really where I would put status updates. Jira has a status field for it, as well the comments feature that would perfectly allow you to add weekly (status or other) updates on an issue, creating a single source of truth.

While Jira is a different solution than Excel, it has tons of capabilities a spreadsheet does not offer (I'm quite sure you would need to bend Excel pretty far to meet this requirement as well 😉). While there's no direct way to display multiple comments directly in list view, there's plenty of ways to pull list of issues that were updated after a certain date, and then review the added comments, for example.

Hope this helps!
