Move items and delete duplicate sprint

I see 2 sprints with same name and sprint id different.

Can everything in duplicate sprint can be moved to other sprint?and duplicate sprint can be deleted?

Also if so.eone can tell me how this duplicate sprint is created?so that I can prevent this from happening in future.

Hi @khushboo_puri 

You get duplicated Sprint because in 2 different boards at least people has created Sprint with the same name (eg Sprint 1).

In your case someone may have edit directly the sprint from the field selecting the wrong Sprint 1. By doing so the Sprint is displayed in your board also.

Best practice is to only assign sprint from the backlog and never from the field. It will avoid such issue.

You could do a query on sprint = id-of-wrong-sprint and clear them or move them to the right Sprint. But it would be interesting to find who added them and educate them about they way to use it.

Also you could ask to your company to put in place a naming convention toward sprint name so it will be less likely to have multiple sprints with the same name.

Is there any way to check who renamed duplicated sprint?it will be really helpful to know what the sprint id was named before someone renamed and started it.

Can we find it out who renamed and started the sprint??

Hi @khushboo_puri,

You can move the duplicate sprint issues to another sprint or the backlog and then delete the duplicate sprint.

In your sprint name, always use your project key as a pre-fix to make the name unique or before creating the sprint just do a JQL search to check if the sprint name already exists or not.
