I have a team-managed project and I was trying something new.. I was turned off the backlog (Features) and then I wanted to turn it on. The issues that was in the backlog before doesn't came back. They are only shown in the list "Issues". I want all the issus with status="In backlog" to be moved to the "Backlog" (below). Is that possible?

Hello @ellinor.andersson

Welcome to the community!

I want to clear up what might be some misconceptions that you have.

The Issues option shows you all issues in the project, regardless of Status and regardless of whether they are on the Board or in the Backlog.

The Backlog option shows you two lists of issues; the ones that are not Done and not displayed on your Board, and the ones that are displayed in your Board (regardless of which column they are in on your board).

With Team Managed projects an issue can be in any Status and be either in the Backlog section of the lists or in the Board section of the lists displayed on the Backlog screen. The issues in the first column of the Board are not strictly relegated to the Backlog section of the list.

This is different from Company Managed projects where the Backlog section of the list shows issues based on their Status, where you map Statuses to the Backlog and then issues in those Statuses do not display on your Board. In a Company Managed project, changing the Status of the issue can move it from the Backlog section of the list to the Board.

Hi @ellinor.andersson , yes, welcome to the community!

Dave posted some great info about Jira's feature which, when the backlog is enabled, offers to move issues in the To Do column to the Backlog column.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you choose to have Jira move the the issues that are in To Do to Backlog, all of the issues will move to Backlog - in other words, Jira will not remember/keep track of the issues you previously had within Backlog. You will need to manually sort out the tickets.

If there is a certain characteristic which your Backlog tickets share, you can search for those tickets and use the mass-update feature to move them to backlog. If you need assistance with that, don't hesitate to ask.

Also note that you can move issues from your board's To Do column to the Backlog by right clicking on the issue and choosing "Move to backlog":

Hi @ellinor.andersson welcome to the Atlassian Community!

After disabling and then re-enabling the Backlog again: If you move your issues on your Board back to your first column, you should be able to move them back to the Backlog.

Thanks for the help!

Now I have all the issues in the backlog. But I need to manage the workflow. I got this project from a colleague that is not longer working at the company. The workflow looks to complicated. When I change the status from "Committed" to "In backlog" the issues disappears from the backlog.

Hi Ellinor,

I believe what you are describing is this: the "In backlog" status is a custom workflow status that is separate from the Jira default "backlog" status.

Here is a helpful resource with information about managing Workflow Status in a team managed project:
