Monitoring alerts via email

For the Jira Data Center monitoring (included out of the box) is it possible to have those monitors trigger and send an email when the severity goes to Warning or Error?

External Monitors Tools will definitely handle this use case. As far as out of the box goes, there's a limit to what can be monitor and configured. That doesn't seem like one of the configurations available. Here's the documentation:
