Migration from local auth to AD/LDAP

congo bongo March 22, 2012

I am on the verge of implementing AD/LDAP user authentification onto my JIRA installations.

However, i have over the last 8 years accumulated more 500+ users, and there never really was a naming convention for users. Is there a way to either migrate all users activities to their inidivual new users name, or maybe just rename usernames - ofcourse i will have to confront the users anyway with this change.

Question two - is there a good way to deal with the convergens from local auth to AD? -I imagine that i can somehow transfer the users to AD, or maybe just create similar usernames, and send out new passwords to them all.

See here for tips on a conversion process where new usernames are required,

It contains links to some example scripts for renaming users
