We have upgraded JIRA to new server with 5.2 with different URL and port.

The old production version URL we would like to keep and point to new server.

We can update SERVER.XML or use the old file. What does the network side need to change so the URL point to new server and port?

I have read the docs but its not clear how URL will pick up the new IUP address in the network. This is for both internal and external clients

All you would need to do is to update your local DNS i.e. the mapping between the URL and the IP address.

The moment the DNS is updated all traffic will be routed to the new production URL.

A few things to consider however,

1. Make sure you take a backup of the old server, take the old server down and then import that xml/database backup to the new server. This will ensure that no data is lost during the transition.
