Migrating Basecamp projects to Jira Software

Steven Alvarado June 29, 2018

Hello,

We are looking for a solution to migrate Basecamp projects to Jira. The page here says there is a tool to accomplish this, but I am not seeing it – is this outdated?

https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/comparison/jira-vs-basecamp

See the section titled "Importing from Basecamp 3 is easy" right after the comparison table. The only options available in our dashboard are CSV, Trello, JSON, or None of these.

Thank you,

Steve

Hello Steve,

I'm afraid that in Jira Cloud, you can't import from Basecamp directly, as you've mentioned, you can only import from CSV, Trello or JSON. Honestly, I'm not familiar with Basecamp, but would be an option for you export your Basecamp data to CSV? If so, you can then export your data to CSV and then import using the CSV Import option.

Can you try that and let me know if it works?

Thanks,

Francisco Oselame

Thanks @Francisco Oselame. Basecamp offers CSV export but I am not set as an account owner so I don't have the permissions to do it right now. I'll get in touch with the right person so we can give it a shot.

In the meantime, the page I linked in the original question ought to be edited to remove that section about automated Basecamp import. It's misleading since the option is not there (or has been removed), and this was one of the reasons I was able to convince upper management to make the switch.
