Hi,
our company plans to evaluate JIRA via an onDemand account. Once we decide to buy the software license for local installation, is it possible to migrate the issue, configuration, and user date from the ondemand installation into the local installation? Is that process very difficult?
Thanks
Volker
Hi Volker,
Yes you can migrte everything from OnDemand to a local installation and the process is pretty straightfoward. Just ask Atlassian support for a complete backup (including attachments) of your OnDemand instance and use the intructions at http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA044/Backing+Up+Data and http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA044/Restoring+Data to restore the data into your local installation.
The only real "gotcha" is that the versions of JIRA that you're exporting from and importing to have to be the same, e.g. if OnDemand is 4.4.4 then you have to import to 4.4.4, but that's true of export/import in general, not just with OnDemand.
Hope that helps,
Andrew.
Hi,

Cheers Volker
