Hi -
We are currently using Office365 for our outbound emails via SMTP. We are getting delays in email delivery, right now it looks like it is being caused by the max 30 outbound emails per minute limit O365 imposes.
I'm looking for alternative SMTP services to use to test this hypothesis and possibly move our SMTP relay traffic over to long term..
I know putting Postix or something similar on our JIRA instance is an option, and using gmail might be an other alternative.
Does anyone have experience with these two options they'd like to share? Any reccomendations on a SMTP relay service that you have used in the past or other options?
Trying to cover all bases, I've also got my solution architect looking into troubleshooting JIRA itself, but it is looking for like office 365 being the culprit.
Thanks in advance,
Dylan
There are many mail providers that could be used as SMTP servers. Microsoft solution is for sure the most popular since normally people have it in the organization.
Of course switching to an alternative is also a good idea to check how it works. Not sure if the biggest (like Gmail) is the best but overall it is all related to company policy where the emails would be routed.
The delays should be troubleshooted since it is not always a problem on the office side. It might be on the network. That is why we should check the logs and enable debug mode so that we can see in details how this behave.
