Label inside the Jira task title

Josip M February 14, 2023

As you can see on the screenshot, this is what our Jira ticket title looks like:

Screenshot 2023-02-15 at 08.29.47.png

It has a Jira ticket number, title of the ticket and an epic.

We are now wondering, is it possible to have a label shown next to the epic badge?

The idea is that our developers can have a clear overview which task is backend/iOS/Android without having to open the task and check the label there.

The other reason is if we try to filter the issues by e.g. iOS, we will get both iOS only and iOS and Android tasks. In order to filter for 1 platform only, we would have to create a custom filters but I couldn't find the proper solution for that either..

We would prefer this 1st option, if possible to have the label shown inside the title, next to the Epic badge.

Is that feasible?

Hi @Josip M and welcome to the community,

What you can do is to add labels to be shown on the backlog as well as the kanban board:backlog labels and epic.png

To do that:

  • Go to board settings
  • Card layout
  • Find the labels field from the dropdown and add it to both backlog and active sprints (or kanban)

Let me know if the above solution helps you.

@Alex Koxaras _Relational_Doesn't that only apply to Company Managed projects?
(In case @Josip M is working on a Team managed one)

Hi @Tobias H , Hi @Josip M

The solution Alex showed indeed only applies to Company Managed projects.

@Josip M , I believe you might be on a Team Managed project. It's hard to tell, but one of the many ways these project types differ is where the Epic's lozenge is placed  on the issues in the background.

In Company Managed projects, it's on the far right, next to the issue key. In Team Managed projects, it's placed directly after the issue's summary.

Best regards,
 Oliver

Thank you guys! :)

I just checked and it says: "You're in a team-managed project".

So, the solution from @Alex Koxaras -Relational- won't work for us, right?

Is there any alternative for the Team Managed projects?

I am not aware of any way to display, or alter, the Backlog view in a Team manager project, I'm afraid. Perhaps someone else knows a way.

Just want to clarify, you said that it's not possible to filter by labels, as it shows the wrong info? Because if the filter works as it should, you could simply filter out to only show labels = iOS and that would make it easy to get an overview of the issues.

The URL is also permanent, so you could have links/bookmarks going directly to
yourworkspace.atlassian.net/xxx/PROJ/backlog?label=iOS (like image below)

Yeah, the problem is in case we have a task that is for both iOS and Android.

If we select iOS inside the filter, then we will get those tasks that are labeled both iOS and Android, but we would like to be able to strictly say: we want iOS Only.

So, I believe in order to do that we have 2 options:

1. If possible, show the Lable inside the Ticket tile, just like the Epic in my example above

2. Create a custom filter

But for the custom filter I couldn't find the right solution...
