Jira software project shows more users than expected during cloud migration

Eric Dong June 9, 2023

Hello community,

We are trying to migrate the JIRA software project from cloud (free plan) to another cloud (premium plan). During the migration, we found out the number of users and number of groups are more than we have in the source destination. We have double checked the user and groups in the source cloud site and don't want to import other users/groups accidentally. What might be the problems here and how can we solve this? Thanks.

Regards,

Eric

Thanks Sanjen.

We are doing a cloud migration for the Jira software project. Source cloud has 10 users as shown in the screenshot. When we did the cloud migration to the destination cloud, the number of users become 28. We want to migrate exactly 10 users instead of 28. How can solve this issue?

Eric

Hi @Eric Dong ,

Thanks for the clarification.

In the source site, you have few of inactive and invalid user So first delete one from the source site one user which is not required in the target site then try to check if it reducing to the 27 then you can follow the same process to resolve the issue.

Note :- In Cloud to Cloud migration all the users will migrate so that its the count of all inactive and active user list.

Hello,

Can ask how to check invalid users? As I have deleted all the inactive users, but still showing 28 during migration. But when I checked on the Atlassian admin page, only showing 5 active users.

Hi Sanjen,

Attached two screenshots for your reference.  During the migration, number of users change from 5 to 28.. Don't know where other users come from. Have confirmed there are not any inactive users on the source cloud site.

Hi @Eric Dong ,

Yes, you have the invalid and inactive user.

Please check it from the user management and click on the filter >>> Inactive .

If you go to User Management, you will see there a filter, which will let you show all active or all inactive users. The filter will say: Has site access and No site access.

After apply the above steps, you will get some user then delete them.
