Hey @Jennifer Tong

If you're searching for a sort of issues visualization on a gantt chart timeline, I will recommend you trying a robust Jira plugin called Planyway

Drag and drop different issues to the timeline to track their progress, display subtasks to get more details, and you can connect multiple Jira projects to a single timeline view and get a full overview across all initiatives.

Your issues from the project(s) you need will be shown somehow this way:

I hope that it could help you. :)

Best!

Thanks for your reply, the plugin looks nice! However, I am not too sure on if our company's Jira license could use your plugin. If yes, can non-site admin set this plugin in their own project? Or such implementation must be done by jira admin?

Feel free to try it out! It will not cost you a penny, as Planyway has a forever-free account for 10-member (or less) teams.

Non-site admin can use the plugin within common team space, e.g in team-managed projects. If you ask about whether Planyway is available for projects created by non-admins, then -- yes, it is available.

The other questions, is that initially, all the plugins are installed by team admin, and then you can use them as you need.

Hi @Jennifer Tong , thanks for your question.

It depends what you mean and what you would like to see in a timeline.

I had a customer that wanted to track, for example, the number of times an issue went through a particular transition.

For this, I created 2 custom fields, one which would increment the a number each time the issue passed through the transition specified and the other to stamp the date when the transition happened. Then, I made an automation rule like this  -

You could implement something simpler than this if you wanted to track when a particular field gets updated, but again, it isn't clear to me what you want to see / obtain.

Please can you elaborate on what you would like to obtain and what you mean by timeline?

Cheers

by timeline, i mean something like a dashboard, or a timeline similar to what jira work management can provide

this following link elaborates what am i expecting: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-work-management/docs/what-is-the-timeline-view-and-how-do-i-use-it/

Since my client wants to create a similar timeline in a jira project but not jira work management, I am confused on the feasibility.

Hi @Jennifer Tong , I think your best bet out-of-the-box is Roadmaps -

So, here you can see the Epics and their Stories on a timeline. Could something like this work?
