Jira bug sub-task creation. Can I fill in some details based on the parent bug?

If I create a new sub-task of a Jira bug, is it possible to automatically fill out fields with the same values as the parent bug, so you only have to select Priority, Affects Versions, Fix Versions, Components (I'm not sure how many of these are standard and how many are custom fields) once, not enter them all individually for each sub-task.

You can do this if the create sub-task is done via a workflow.

Create a transition to create the sub-task & in the post function, add the Copy Issue Function from the Customware Jira Utilities plugin

  • Specify the Issue Type as sub-tasks; and
  • The Issue link type as SubTask

it will copy all fields that exist between the two issues
