Jira Interface Discrepancy – Need Help

Hatice Demirbaş January 2, 2025

Hello,

I created an account in Jira, but the navigation and interface look different. When I created another account for trial purposes, it was created with the interface I was expecting. Can you help me resolve the issue with my current domain?

I have uploaded two images: 'old-interface' and 'new-interface'. I would like to have the 'old-interface' for my current domain. Could you please assist me with this?

Best regards,
Hatice Demirbaş

Hi @Hatice Demirbaş and welcome to the Community!

I am afraid it's not project type or template related, @Marc - Devoteam. Atlassian has launched (and seems to have started rolling out) an entirely new navigation.

I have it in my own test site as well and found that it can still be reverted. If you navigate to Admin > System as a Jira administrator, there is a link in the absolute bottom left navigation Give feedback on the new navigation. In the popup that appears, there is a link to switch back to the old navigation:

So it might be a good idea to start using it (and potentially provide feedback as well), especially when you're getting started. It will let you learn the navigation only once, rather than having to adjust after you get started with a completely different experience.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout

Yes, as you mentioned, there is a link to switch to the old interface, but it only redirects me to the theme settings. So, the only thing I can change is the theme. Could you please assist me further?

Thank you,

Hatice

In my site, under the theme settings there's Jira labs. One of the features that's there is the new navigation with a toggle to switch it on / off:

Hi @Hatice Demirbaş and welcome to the community,

The difference you are experiences has to do with Atlassian's rollout functionality, of moving the horizontal navigation menu to vertical. This is gradually rolled out to different instances. So soon you will see it on your old one.

Hope that helps!

Hi@Alex Koxaras _Relational_ ,

Thank you for your response. However, I would like to switch back to the old interface. Could you please guide me on how to do that?

Thank you,

Hatice

@Walter Buggenhout has provided a way to switch back to the old navigation menu.

@Hatice Demirbaş if there is no option to switch it back, then unfortunately there isn't another way. I don't like this change either, but hey... it is what it is and we have to move forward :)

hello @Hatice Demirbaş

Welcome to community :)

the new interface image is that for A JWM project and the old interface is that for a jira software project and hence the layout is different.

But in future there is going to be a change on jira look and feel, please refer to : https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-articles/Reimagining-work-in-Jira-to-better-represent-all-teams/ba-p/2854968 for more details

This will get gradually rolled out to all instances

Thank You,

Prachi

Hi @Hatice Demirbaş

This is based on the type of project, team or company managed.

Or the template used for a project.
