Jira - Hide Priority field from list views and cards

Hi,

I've hidden the "priority" field in the Field Configuration screen. However it still appears in the backlog view and on individual cards in the "Active Sprint" board screen.

So it's gone from entry screens so it can't be set, but it still appears on the default view screens (presumably with a default value). Which makes no sense at all. If I hide a field, it doesn't mean "I still want to see it occasionally" - it means "I want to HIDE it."

Can I achieve this?

This is not really a good solution but a workaround.
