Jira - Email notification after Workflow Transition

Hello.

I am trying to to figure it out how to trigger an automatic notification email after some issue goes through a transition in a Workflow.

Can anyone help with this?

I've tried this but without any success.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/configure-a-custom-event-notification-for-a-specific-jira-workflow-transition-or-status-720831525.html

In the "Configuration" procedure when it says "

For Template field, select the available default email template for the event created."

I don't have an email template so I choose the generic template. The rest I've made as it is mentioned.

Hello there!

If you choose the generic event as the template the e-mail will be empty, in this case, you might wanna choose a different one. A good option is the "Issue Updated" one because since the trigger is a status transition, the e-mail will contain information about the old and new statuses.

I'd like to ask some questions so we can better understand the issue:

Which option have you selected in the notification scheme? To whom the message will be sent? Reporter, Assignee, a specific group?

Can you tell us if other notifications are working properly? Are users receiving other notifications such as issue created, comments added, etc?

After adding the "Fire event" post-function, remember that you need to click on "publish" to save the changes in the workflow(seems a bit silly, but I've made this mistake many times before).

Kind regards,

Hello.

I'll explain what I have done first in some more detail.

I've created an Event, choosing the template "Issue Updated" as you recommended.

I've created the custom event, inserting the desired email in the "Single Email Address" box and added it. (I wanted the email notification to be send to this email).

chrome_2018-08-07_10-31-48.png I included the event in the default notification scheme (which I am using for the project).

After this I added the custom event to the workflow transition post function. And published the workflow.

So I am not sure why this is not working because I think I have done everything I should.

Regarding your questions, Yes other notifications are working.

I want the message to be sent to the insert email above (in red in the picture). It's just a random email of mine that I have selected.

Thanks.

Thanks for sharing the steps you are taking.

If the e-mail you've put in the "Single Email Address" field is the same e-mail address as the user you're using to trigger the event in the workflow you'll have to enable notification from your own changes.

In your profile, under "Preferences" change the "My Changes" field from "Do not notify me" to "Notify Me", this way Jira will send a notification to your e-mail even if you were the one who made the change.
