Jira Email customization to create issues filling in jira specific fields

Hi All,

Is there any way that Jira email can receive emails with specific fields in the body and create the jira issues filling this structured information into specific custom fields?

We have an external tool that sends us an email with structured information, and I’ve wondered if Jira could automatically process this information and create the jiras.

Any guide/help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hello Jay,

Unfortunately, JIRA can only collect the subject and description from issues created through e-mail, so only the fields summary and description can be filled with this.

However,  there are some plugins that you can use to create templates on the e-mail description which identify issue fields, so you could specify more than only two fields in the e-mail.

Please, check if the plugin Email this issue would provide you with the functionality you are looking for.
