Hi,

We are planning to move to JIRA server from cloud. This is to be HIPPA compliant. Now that we are seeing requirements for migrations, we see that JIRA server needs Symantec to be uninstalled. I am not sure if this is because of performance issues or because it doesn't work at all. Our Business rule want us to be both PCI and HIPPA compliant due to which we have to scan all our system daily and Symantec is something that we cannot uninstall or change. We want to know what is the possible work around for this. We would want to ideally be talking to someone at Atlassian on this as we feel we are not the only company having issues like this.

Having said that, I would also want to point out that we are a small company and the number of JIRA users are limited to 20. If JIRA server is still an option for us, we would want to know about system requirements for this number of users and with Symantec software

Thank you,

Bhavya

I'd disable virus protection for the installation procedure. It has the possibility of interfering with the installation process of Jira.

As long as your virus protection software isn't doing anything draconian, I wouldn't expect problems running it after Jira is installed and running.  It would be a good idea to test it for a period of time to be sure, though.  You may need to add some exceptions to your virus software configuration to ensure that it doesn't interfere with Jira's normal operation.

I wouldn't recommend less than 2 CPUs and less than 2GB of memory for Jira to run it. If you have the database running on the same box, you need to make sure that you have adequate resources for the operating system, virus software, database, backup software, etc, in addition to the Jira application.  Given that serve/memory/storage is cheap, I would suggest a minimum 4 CPU/8GB RAM system with at least 50GB of storage space available.  That should give you enough headroom for a while. Having more memory isn't a bad thing either.
