Yes, but I have a work-around way. Not sure it's the most user friendly. You have to put it back into a modifiable status - probably reopen it / In Progress. Then I go to 'search issues' I plug in the tix number, and do a bulk change to either change the version or erase it completely.

You could also modify the workflow - if you remove the "do not allow edits" property from the status that the issue is in. Or add a transition to the same status that goes through a screen that includes the field.
