In this ticket Atlassian batched updates together: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-1369
Does anyone know if the same is possible for Slack notifications?
Hi Drew,
Notifications from Jira to Slack using the native Slack integration happen in real time. There's not a way to batch the updates using the integration. However, if you're using /jira notify to get direct messages from the Jira Cloud app, it is possible to mute apps in Slack now:
That could potentially calm the notifications you're receiving. If the messages are flowing into a channel (rather than a DM from the app), you could also consider changing the notification settings for the individual channel in Slack.
If you truly need to receive a rollup of updates, you could consider creating a Jira Automation rule to send messages into Slack on a regular basis, from a Jira issue search. I've previously written an article about an Automation Rule to send a list of issues into Jira every morning that might be a good starting point. This is a bit more work than tweaking the notification settings directly in Slack, but might provide you with more flexibility.
Cheers,
Daniel
