Is there any way that we can automate the Capacity Planning of a team in JIRA?

Instead of going for a a separate excel for Capacity Planning of a team, can we automate that on JIRA itself?

I wanted to introduce you to Activity Timeline plugin, which could be a great solution for your team capacity planning!

• Workload Indicator displays the number of hours allocated per person during the period. Also, it is possible to switch to Availability mode that would display the available capacity of each Jira resource. Different colors give a manager a clear overview of the booked/available hours for a certain period.

• Multiple assignees for a single task Assign a single issue to several assignees and get an additional flexibility for resource planning. Simply drag'n'drop any Jira issue, while holding 'Shift' button and system will split the task.

• Resource planning on different levels. Users can choose multiple teams and observe the task progress on the timelines. Choose different timeframes, availability/workload modes and manage your teams effortlessly.

By "capacity planning" do you mean assessing the impact of people's availability on what the team can deliver in the next sprint / iteration?  If so...

There is nothing in out-of-the-box Free or Standard license, Jira that can help with capacity planning.  If you want something in the tool for that please check the Atlassian Marketplace for addon apps, or consider upgrading your Jira license level.

And...I respectfully suggest doing this activity as a team discussion during sprint planning rather than relying on any tool to set the team capacity alone.
